OlympiA

Nora collaborated with writer Lauren Shannon Jones in the creation of ‘Olympia’, an adaptation of the gothic short story ‘The Sandman’ by E.T.A Hoffman. In this show, a physical theatre style was used to heighten the performance, and an interchangeable set with live projection was used to great effect. The show also had an original score by Dylan Tonge Jones. The play was developed with the support of The New Theatre Residency Programme and premiered there in October 2015.

For a play so focused on the eye, and sight itself, it made great use of the audience’s gaze. I was transfixed.

It is clear that the creative team have worked very well together, as the underlying tension in the piece drips out in the sound, lighting, set, and projections that are incorporated into the play.

It holds the audience’s attention throughout its 70 minutes and provides proper gothic thrills.
